What's in your basement?

Over the years, I've accumulated lots of paint. You name it, gallons, spray cans, acrylic, etc.. Seems like I use it once or twice and then bury it somewhere deep in the basement.

At one time or another, that color meant something to me. Tears streaming down my face now! No really, the other day my oldest daughter was asking for a chalk board in her room when I remembered that I had a can of chalkboard paint in the basement. YeeHaw!

Now I have no idea why I bought this paint in the first place, but nonetheless, there it was, all dusty and grinning at me as I pulled it from an abandoned shelf in the basement. It was like the book Cordoroy! I felt like this can of paint had been sitting there for years waiting to be put on some kid's wall!

So I go upstairs to the girls room and I tape off an area (without measuring or anything). I would never get anything accomplished if I always had to be so precise! And about 20 minutes later, the first coat was on and my girls were thrilled!

The Best part is that it was FREE!

So what's in your basement? Something that can be re-purposed? Or just dusted off? Go check it out! Right now!!

Here we go!!!!

With a little inspiration from one of my new favorite blogs, a teenie dose of financial reality, and pure passion for junk, I'm taking our family on a road to becoming frugal. Make that frugaler??? Is that a word? Who cares! I am already pretty frugal. I have always loved shopping at second hand stores, yard sales, and grabbing something out of someones trash.

I get it honest though...my aunt was once "visited" at her home by the local police who got a tip that she had gotten into someones trash! The people took down her license plate # and everything. She wasn't digging into their garbage cans, she just picked up some little tykes toys that were sitting out for the trash truck!

Now I won't be digging into private trash cans, I do have to draw the line somewhere! But I wanna see how frugal I can be and how resourceful I can get! I'm ALL ABOUT recycling and getting creative with what we already have. It's gonna be FUN!

I'm talking decorating, food, clothes, you name, I'm slicing the budget!

I'm ready for a challenge!! Come join me!
